The story

This is a story of Olivia, a travel blogger, her mother, Meera, an Alzheimer patient, and her father, Abdul Khan, a terrorist. The book explores several emotions like love, passion, hope and waiting.

Olivia was left shaken when she returned from her Europe tour as Meera claimed that she lied all these years about the death of Olivia’s father, Rahil. Dazed with all the new information Meera revealed, Olivia failed to distinguish if it was true or just an illusion of Meera’s disturbed mind given that she is struck by Alzheimer. According to doctors, the possibility of hallucinations is true if a person is suffering from Alzheimer’s.

My take

Interestingly, the story starts and ends with the same line:

‘Where are we going?’

‘Come, hold my hand. I have a surprise for you’.

As a debut author, Mr. Ram Joshi has woven the plot very well and his message to his readers is clear – never give up. Olivia’s frantic search for her father that held the key to her own identity crisis, amidst maintaining her job and accepting the harsh reality about her mom’s illness is commendable indeed.  This book is an inspiration to those who is fighting it out against all odds.

The book cover is simple, elegant and goes with the theme very well.

Though there are some grammatical errors, the book is certainly worth a read!

Here are some delightful quotes from the book:

“Everyone has their own definition of truth”

“Ego is toxic for any relationship.”

“Life without a dream is like a body without soul.”

“Time is water for relations, the more you pour, the better it will grow.”

My rating: 4/5
